The Afghanistan Cricket Board leadership, led by Chairman Mr. Mirwais Ashraf and CEO Mr. Naseeb Khan, attended the Asian Cricket Council’s Executive Board Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The meeting was chaired by ACC President Mr. Jay Shah and was attended by key representatives from member countries across Asia to discuss important issues related to the region’s cricketing development and planning for the upcoming years.
The meeting opened with the confirmation of issues raised in the previous ACC Executive Board Meeting. Several matters that were raised in the previous session were addressed, and resolutions were discussed and proposed.
A detailed presentation was delivered to provide updates on ACC’s ongoing events and programs for 2024. ACC’s Development Committee also presented its plans for the 2025 and 2026 calendars with a focus on enhancing cricketing opportunities for all member nations.
One of the significant highlights of the meeting was the update about ACC’s efforts on cricket’s inclusion in the 2026 Asian Games.
A thorough discussion was held on securing sponsorship and media rights for ACC events from 2024 to 2031.
In addition, New membership applications from Uzbekistan, the Philippines, and Mongolia were discussed. The ACC agreed to allow these nations to participate in future pathway events and provide them an opportunity to showcase their talent.
During the meeting, the ACB leadership took the opportunity to strengthen ties with neighboring cricket boards. In particular, they extended discussions with the Bangladesh Cricket Board regarding their all-format tour of Afghanistan, to which the BCB responded positively. The details and outcomes of the discussions will be made public soon.
Furthermore, the ACB leadership made a formal request to the ACC Executive Board to start considering Afghanistan as a potential host for upcoming ACC events.
The ACC Executive Board Meeting in Kuala Lumpur was highly productive, with the ACB leveraging the opportunity to strengthen regional ties and expressing its desire to host future ACC cricketing events.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is the governing body for cricket in Afghanistan. It joined the ICC in 2001, became an associate member in 2013, and a full member in 2017. The ACB is also part of the Asian Cricket Council.
