ACB, RTA sign ten-year Strategic partnership MoU for APL T20

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is the governing body for cricket in Afghanistan. It joined the ICC in 2001, became an associate member in 2013, and a full member in 2017. The ACB is also part of the Asian Cricket Council.

Afghanistan Cricket Board and Radio Television of Afghanistan (RTA) today signed a ten-year strategic partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for conducting the Afghanistan Premier League T20 from 2021 to 2030. The two sides also signed an agreement based on which RTA was declared the principle organizer of Shpageeza Cricket League for the same period.

The MoU was signed in an event organized in Kabul which was attended by top management from both organizations as well as dignitaries from the Government and Afghanistan’s National Olympic Committee. Addressing the event, RTA Chairman Mr. Ismail Miakhail called Afghan national players the pride of the country who have represented Afghanistan with dignity across the globe.

Miakhail further added, “As national organizations, RTA and ACB strive to present cricket in high quality to the audience in order to develop the game further in Afghanistan. Fortunately, we share the same vision for the game. “

ACB Chairman Mr. Farhan Yusefzai reciprocated the remarks of RTA Chairman and added, “RTA and ACB will work together to achieve more. With coordination from both entities, APL T20 will be a huge success. “He further added that Afghan players represent the future of the nation and that APL T20 will provide them with yet another opportunity to shine.

Mr. Yusefzai also took the opportunity to request Afghan private sector, businesses and investors to invest more in cricket and help develop the game further in Afghanistan.

National team’s skipper Asghar Afghan also addressed the event calling APL T20 a great opportunity for young Afghan players to showcase their talent. Afghan remarked that APL T20 will strengthen Afghan cricket both from technical and financial aspects as players, coaches and administration will earn revenue from the league. He added that APL T20 will produce many players which will raise the overall standard of domestic cricket in the country.

The second edition of Afghanistan Premier League T20 will be held in the United Arab Emirates and will feature many overseas players in addition to players from Afghanistan’s domestic cricket.
