ACB Chairman Mr. Mirwais Ashraf and CEO Mr. Naseeb Khan, along with representatives from other member countries, attended the International Cricket Council’s Executive Board meeting today in UAE.

The board addressed raising Afghanistan’s annual budget, providing technical assistance, and ICC Future Tours Programs. In addition, a level 3 coaching course for Afghanistan coaches has been approved, which will take place from May 20 to 30 and will feature 10 Afghanistan Level Two Coaches.

The International Cricket Council also agreed to begin a High-Performance Program in the near future, which will feature four full and associate member countries. This will help associate member nations to play full members on a regular basis and will help them to strengthen cricket in their own countries.

It was also said that the ICC will continue to provide technical assistance and capacity-building opportunities to the Afghanistan Cricket Board in order for Afghanistan to progress toward being technically self-sufficient.

The ACB Chairman Mr. Mirwais Ashraf: “It was a good meeting for Afghanistan, in addition to other achievements, we sought an increase in our annual budget and thankfully, it was granted and after the review, we will receive a significantly greater budget compared to today”.

“In addition to other demands, the ACB also requires technical assistance to increase staff capability,” said the CEO of the Afghanistan Cricket Board. “The matter was reviewed, and I am glad that the ICC decided to expand its technical cooperation and will provide regular capacity-building programs to our staff in the future.” He added.

It is worth noting that ACB officials met with Asian Cricket Council members last month, which resulted in excellent outcomes for Afghanistan.
