Afghanistan U19’s promising left-arm fast bowler Fazal Haq Farooqi headed to UAE today as he was roped in by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Kings XI Punjab as a net bowler for this season.
Haq was spotted by Kings XI’s scouts earlier this year during the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa where he was part of Afghanistan’s bowling attack.
In a statement to Indian tabloid, Fazal Haq called the opportunity a pleasing news and added, “I am glad I have got the opportunity because IPL is a huge platform for me to grow as a player and to be with world-class players. I’m sure it is going to be a wonderful experience for me.”
He also expressed a desire to be part of the IPL in future following his country-mates Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and youngster Mujeeb ur Rahman who is also part of Kings XI Punjab’s bowling line-up.
