The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) held its Annual General Meeting today in Kabul. Chaired by ACB Chairman Mr. Mirwais Ashraf, the meeting brought together board members to discuss the achievements of the past year and outline plans for 2025.
The meeting began with Mr. Ashraf welcoming attendees and delivering an opening speech. He stated, “The past year has been filled with achievements and milestones for Afghanistan cricket. Alhamdulillah, we have made significant progress in both cricketing and administrative areas. This AGM will focus on reviewing our achievements from last year, discussing plans for the upcoming year, and proposing adjustments to some policies.”
Following the chairman’s remarks, a detailed presentation was presented to highlight the organization’s activities, accomplishments, and challenges in 2024. This included financial reports, budget insights, international and domestic cricket achievements, as well as discussions regarding structural adjustments. The design process for the Najibullah Taraki Cricket Stadium in Nangarhar province was also a key topic of discussion.
Board members engaged in comprehensive discussions on various topics presented and raised questions that were addressed by the relevant department heads. Additionally, the board thoroughly discussed Afghanistan’s international cricket schedule for the upcoming year, including home and away tours as well as participation in ICC and ACC events.
On behalf of the board members, Dr. Ahmad Khalid Hatam praised the efforts of all ACB departments, emphasizing their critical roles in last year’s successes. He added, “While we had a successful year, there’s always room for improvement. We must work even harder to achieve more in the coming year.” He also highlighted the importance of further training for the U-19 national team and accelerating preparations for the Afghanistan Premier League.
Proposals for significant increases in domestic match fees were discussed, and allocations for match fees for the Regional Three-Day Competitions and the Provincial Grade I tournament were approved.
ACB Chairman Mr. Mirwais Ashraf, ACB CEO Mr. Naseeb Khan, and board members Mr. Ahmad Khalid Hatam, Mr. Allah Dad Noori, Mr. Raees Ahmadzai, Mr. Obaidullah Sadarkhil, and Mr. Khan Jan Alokozai, along with representatives from various departments, attended the meeting. In an agreed decision, they approved proposed modifications and improvements to policies regarding international cricket, financial management, and human resources. The board members expressed their gratitude to the ACB senior management for effective leadership and planning for the upcoming year.
The ACB Annual General Meeting is an annual event hosted by the Afghanistan Cricket Board. It is chaired by the ACB Chairman and is attended by the ACB CEO as well as board members, where activities and achievements of the previous years as well as goals for the coming years as discussed.
