Adelaide Strikers captain Suzie Bates will play her first game of rebel WBBL|06 in Tuesday’s return fixture against the Melbourne Stars at Blacktown International Sportspark.

Bates has been recovering from a shoulder injury sustained while fielding in last month’s Australia-New Zealand Rose Bowl series.

The experienced right-hand batter is the second-highest runscorer for the Strikers with 1180 and a strike rate of 107.46.

Stafanie Taylor has been ruled out after sustaining a quadricep injury during yesterday’s game against the Melbourne Renegades.

Taylor was still named Player of the Match for her 60 (48), but will now be monitored and assessed before the weekend’s matches.

Annie O’Neil returns to the squad, while Katie Perkins is omitted as she was a replacement player for Bates.

Play begins at 2:00pm (ACDT) on Tuesday, and the playing XI will be announced at the pre-game bat flip.
