The Adelaide Strikers will kick off their hunt for glory in KFC BBL|12 with a fiery rematch of last season’s Challenger Final, facing the Sydney Sixers at Adelaide Oval.
The Strikers will be back in prime time for their first match of the summer, facing the Sixers at 6.45pm (local) on Wednesday, December 14.
The two sides last met in the penultimate match of BBL|11, in search of a place in the season’s Final.
In a match that had it all, the Sixers proved victorious in a nail-biting final ball thriller, ending Adelaide’s season.
Additionally confirmed today, for the first time the Melbourne Stars will go head-to-head with the Strikers on the biggest night of the year, New Year’s Eve at the Adelaide Oval.
Kicking off in BBL|03, the New Year’s Eve clash has remained one of the most watched and highly attended matches on the BBL calendar.
The centrepiece of the summer, the final night of the year in Adelaide has also produced some of the most memorable matches to date; none more so than Travis Head’s match-winning century in BBL|05.
Head of Strikers and Events, Mel Musolino said:
‘It’s extremely exciting to have the opportunity to kick off our summer at home, in prime time at Adelaide Oval.
‘There will certainly be some feeling in our opening contest with the Sixers, a clash that is sure to be a must-watch match for fans across the league.
‘New Year’s Eve at Adelaide Oval has long been a marquee fixture on the BBL calendar, and we can’t wait to welcome the Stars to Adelaide for the biggest night of the year.’
The complete KFC BBL|12 fixture will be released tomorrow Thursday, July 14.
