Adelaide Strikers fans can ready themselves for a full season of Lynnsanity with the BBL’s all-time leading six-hitter and runs-scorer signing a one-year deal that includes availability for finals.
Lynn has proved a marquee recruit for the Strikers since signing from Brisbane Heat for BBL|12, winning inclusion in the prestigious Team of the Year after both his seasons in blue.
On both occasions, his commitments with overseas outfits meant he wasn’t available for the final matches of the season, but the power-hitting machine will be with the Strikers for all of the upcoming summer as they look to build on the momentum of BBL|13.
Lynn has blasted 720 runs at a strike rate of 150 per 100 balls faced since donning Strikers colours, which includes 28 sixes and 71 boundaries.
No player in BBL history has cleared the rope more often than Lynn’s 208 maximum strikes, with his top score last summer being the unbeaten 83 he belted from 42 balls in a New Year’s Eve shootout against Melbourne Stars.
He will rejoin fellow BBL|13 Team of the Year members Matt Short and Cameron Boyce who have signed multi-year deals with the Strikers.
“I can’t wait to get back with the lads and play in front of our amazing Strikers fans at Adelaide Oval,” Lynn said.
“I’m confident we can progress even further this season and excited to get started now that the schedule for BBL|14 has been released.”
That schedule was announced last week and includes blockbuster games including a New Year’s Eve match-up with Perth Scorchers at Adelaide Oval and a home re-match against last season’s champions Brisbane Heat on January 11.
The Strikers also recently confirmed fast-bowling sensation Henry Thornton, who took a remarkable 5-3 when Sydney Thunder were bowled out for 15 in BBL|12, has re-signed and will join new recruits Jordan Buckingham and Alex Ross for the coming summer.
Further signings will be revealed in coming weeks ahead of the BBL draft later in the year as the Strikers finalise their squad for BBL|14.
“We’re thrilled to have Chris returning for a third season,” Strikers Interim General Manager Shaun Williams said.
“While his batting exploits speak for themselves, the experience and leadership he brings to our playing group and the assistance he provides for younger players as well as our coaching staff is equally invaluable.
“Chris is a box office attraction and is a vital part of a versatile and talented squad that we believe will again challenge for the title in BBL|14.”
Strikers Memberships are on sale today.
