The Adelaide Strikers are an Australian professional Twenty20 cricket team based in Adelaide, South Australia, competing in the Big Bash League (BBL). The Adelaide Strikers have filled their final list spot ahead of WBBL|09, signing fast bowler Courtney Neale.

It’s not Neale’s first time in the Women’s Big Bash, having previously played three matches for the Melbourne Renegades in WBBL|06 – where she incredibly took a wicket with the very first ball she bowled in the competition.

This signing comes after Neale made her South Australian debut for the SA Scorpions in the WNCL just yesterday, taking a wicket in her first spell.

“I have loved being part of the South Australian program this year and am so excited to continue that with the Strikers in WBBL|09,” Neale said.

“The Strikers are the benchmark of the WBBL competition and I’m really looking forward to being involved with the squad.

“October 21 at Karen Rolton Oval can’t come soon enough and I can’t wait to see it full of blue!”

Strikers Head Coach Luke Williams said the signing of Neale nicely completed the squad.

“Courtney is a great final addition to the squad, she’s a quality fast bowler and will bring great energy and support to the group,” Williams said.

“We’re really pleased with the squad we’ve assembled – we’ve kept our core group of Championship winning players but also have some really important additions in Courtney and our English all-rounders Dani Gibson and Georgia Adams,” he said.

“All three players will be great assets both on and off the field and we can’t wait to see what they do in blue.

“We believe our squad is really well rounded, all our players are capable of playing and being successful at this level and we are hoping to put on a show for our fans at both Karen Rolton Oval and Adelaide Oval.”

Final Strikers WBBL|09 squad: Georgia Adams, Jemma Barsby, Darcie Brown, Danielle Gibson, Katie Mack, Tahlia McGrath, Anesu Mushangwe, Courtney Neale, Annie O’Neil, Bridget Patterson, Maddie Penna, Megan Schutt, Ella Wilson, Amanda-Jade Wellington, Laura Wolvaardt

The first match of the Strikers WBBL|09 season will be at Karen Rolton Oval on Saturday, October 21 at 6:40pm.
