The Adelaide Strikers are an Australian professional Twenty20 cricket team based in Adelaide, South Australia, competing in the Big Bash League (BBL). Established in 2011, they succeeded the Southern Redbacks, who played in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. The Strikers play their home games at the Adelaide Oval and wear a cornflower blue uniform.

Adelaide Strikers duo Sarah Coyte and Darcie Brown have both been named in the rebel WBBL|06 Team of the Tournament.

Coyte finished the tournament with 18 wickets, the equal-highest alongside Melbourne Stars international Natalie Sciver. Coyte’s best figures came against Hobart Hurricanes on 17 November when she claimed 3/10 from just three overs. A truly dominant performance, the right arm quick was also involved in a crucial run-out in the same game.

Coyte didn’t limit her contributions to the ball or in the field, the veteran also scored some vital lower-order runs for the Strikers, including some huge sixes against Brisbane Heat on 7 November.

With the Team of the Tournament selected in line with WBBL playing conditions and designed to play a genuine fixture, Coyte lines up at number eight.

Darcie Brown, in addition to her rebel WBBL|06 Young Gun award, has been named the 12th player in the Team of the Tournament. Brown’s debut season was a remarkable one, claiming 10 wickets at the excellent economy rate of 5.52 runs per over.

At just 18 years of age, Brown’s dual recognition today is a great sign that the exciting talent is on the right path and will continue to develop into the player the Strikers saw when she signed on at the age of 16.

The selection panel was made up of former players Lisa Sthalekar (Seven Network) and Mel Jones (Fox Cricket), cricket.com.au journalist Laura Jolly and National Selector, Shawn Flegler.
