Adelaide Strikers skipper Travis Head and quick Michael Neser have both been selected in the national squad to take on India in the upcoming Vodaphone Test Series on home soil.
Following strong starts to the Marsh Sheffield Shield season, Head and Neser take their place in the extended squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which begins in Adelaide on December 17.
Head’s selection comes after two scores in excess of 150 through the opening rounds of red ball cricket, while Neser has not only taken plenty of wickets but also smashed a maiden first-class ton for Queensland in their season opening fixture against Tasmania.
While Neser is uncapped at international level, Travis has 17 tests beneath a baggy green and is continuing to develop as a leader, something underscored by national selector Trevor Hohns.
“Travis remains an important member of the senior leadership group and has been integral in the recent success of the side which is now ranked as the best Test team in the world. He has been a great support to Tim and is a very experienced leader.”
