She’s already atop the Adelaide Strikers games played tally and Bridget Patterson will be adding to that total in WBBL|09 after signing a multi-year deal to remain with the Club.
One of the inaugural Strikers, Patterson has played 118 WBBL matches – the same amount as fellow inaugural Striker Amanda-Jade Wellington – which also puts her equal-second on the all-time WBBL games played list.
Since WBBL|01, Patterson has made 1,509 runs at a strike rate at over 100 and only two games ago, was the matchwinner that catapulted the Strikers into the WBBL|08 Final, which they ended as Champions.
In front of a home crowd at Karen Rolton Oval for the WBBL|08 semi-final, the Strikers were in trouble before Patterson blasted 45 runs from just 26 deliveries to chase the runs and secure their final position.
The former Kangaroo Island local is also the most prolific fielder in the competition, having taken the most catches in WBBL with 52.
Patterson said she is pleased to be continuing her Strikers journey.
“After eight years of work, winning the Championship last year was incredibly special and I want to see what we can achieve together in WBBL|09,” Patterson said.
“I’m also super excited to play on Adelaide Oval again this year, we always love playing on the big stage in front of big crowds and we can’t wait to see heaps of Strikers fans in the stands cheering us on.
“I’m in for a new challenge at the Strikers this season and I can’t wait to get stuck in again.”
Adelaide Strikers Head Coach Luke Williams said Patterson has always been an important member of the Strikers.
“We are really pleased that Bridget will be remaining with the Strikers for the next two seasons,” Williams said.
“She brings so much experience to our squad and as we saw in the semi, she can turn games with her batting as well as her elite fielding.
“Bridget has been an integral part of our squad since day one and she will continue to be as we strive to defend our WBBL title.”
Patterson joins Jemma Barsby and Ella Wilson in signing new deals with the Strikers ahead of the WBBL|09 season.
