The Adelaide Strikers have signed right-arm strike bowler Daniel ‘Franky’ Worrall, in a trade that sees Billy Stanlake move to the Melbourne Stars.
Worrall has been in the South Australian system with the West End Redbacks for eight years, debuting as a rookie in the 2012-13 Sheffield Shield season.
His fast swing bowling and ability to take crucial, top-order wickets will benefit the Strikers’ attack in the milestone tenth season of the KFC Big Bash League.
Worrall took career-best figures T20 figures of 4/23 in the Stars’ semi-final win against the Hobart Hurricanes in BBL|08, which earned him Player of the Match accolades.
“I’m grateful to be moving to the Strikers this season and hopefully starting a new, successful chapter,” he said.
“Adelaide has been home to me for the last eight years, and to play in front of a packed Adelaide Oval for the Strikers is something I just can’t wait for.
“Working with Jason Gillespie and a new group of players is an exciting opportunity that I am looking forward to at this stage of my career.”
Stanlake has been with the Strikers since 2015 and he was part of the BBL|07 squad that claimed its maiden Championship.
Though he didn’t play in the final due to international commitments, Stanlake took 11 wickets from 10 games and was an important part of the campaign.
Strikers Head Coach Jason Gillespie said:
“We welcome Franky who will be a great asset to our bowling attack, and thank Billy for his great service to the Strikers.
“Franky is a top-class wicket-taker, and I’m really looking forward to what he will bring to his home ground at Adelaide Oval.”
BBL|10 is scheduled to begin on December 3.
