After being the leading run-scorer and leading wicket-taker in SACA Premier Cricket’s West End Twenty20 Cup this season, Northern Districts all-rounder Josh Kann has been signed as a local replacement player for the Adelaide Strikers’ KFC BBL|13 campaign.

Kann has made 302 runs at an average of 100.67, having made 120 runs more than the next best batter, while also taking 10 wickets with his right-arm pace bowling at an average of 8.6.

No stranger to the Big Bash, Kann has previously been on the Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers lists, playing three matches for Hobart.

Kann is replacing Travis Head whilst he is on national duties and is looking forward to getting stuck in.

“I’ve loved being part of the Big Bash before, but it will be really special being involved with my home state and team,” Kann said.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity and can’t wait to be part of it, starting at Adelaide Oval tomorrow night.”

Strikers Head Coach Jason Gillespie said the team was pleased to welcome Kann to the Strikers.

“Josh is really deserving of this opportunity and it is great to be able to reward a local player for their outstanding Premier Cricket performances,” Gillespie said.

“With both his batting and bowling ability, we’re excited by the depth Josh will add to the squad.”

Kann has been included in the 15-man squad set to face the Sydney Thunder at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday night, as has left-arm pace bowler David Payne who was unavailable for the first match.

Squad of 15 v Thunder: Matthew Short (c), Wes Agar, James Bazley, Cameron Boyce, Brendan Doggett, Adam Hose, Josh Kann, Chris Lynn, Ben Manenti, Harry Nielsen (wk), Jamie Overton, David Payne, D’Arcy Short, Henry Thornton, Jake Weatherald

With the Strikers first match of the BBL|13 season washed out, there are a number of new Strikers that could make their club debut on Adelaide Oval tomorrow.
