The Adelaide Strikers are an Australian professional Twenty20 cricket team based in Adelaide, South Australia, competing in the Big Bash League (BBL). The Adelaide Strikers are pleased to confirm that the Women’s Big Bash League will return to Karen Rolton Oval, and Nuriootpa’s Centennial Park Oval in 2021.

Cricket Australia today announced the fixture which will see three Strikers games at KRO, including a festival weekend on 20-21 November, and a mouth-watering clash against Sydney Sixers in Nuriootpa.

In an important hallmark of progression for the Strikers and women’s cricket, matches at KRO will be ticketed for the first time in the club’s history, testament to the strength of the game and its rising quality.

Assuming public health conditions allow, the national, festival-based format will be re-installed – and feature matches in metro and regional areas – after last season was played entirely in a biosecure hub due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Strikers will play their first home game of the season against Perth Scorchers on Saturday, 6 November, and then will head to the region’s north on the Sunday to play the Sixers.

They will start their tournament at North Sydney Oval against Sydney Thunder on Saturday, 16 October, which will be broadcast live in primetime.

The Strikers will also have 11 of 14 games broadcast on TV which is more than ever before.

General Manager Kate Harkness welcomes the return of home Karen Rolton Oval fixtures after circumstances prevented play in South Australia in 2020.

“This is a very pleasing result for our fans, who are continually the best in the competition, to watch the best female athletes in the country play at the stunning facility that is Karen Rolton Oval,” she said.

“We certainly missed the presence of our passionate supporters last year, but we are very happy to be returning to play at KRO, and also the great venue in Centennial Park Oval in Nuriootpa after we first took the game there in 2019.

“The TV fixtures are also a big win, which will provide the Strikers faithful the chance to continue to tune in to our team in the competition that is Australia’s highest rating women’s sporting league on a per game basis.”

A three-game, top four Finals series remains. Finals Series matches will be played on Wednesday, 23 November and Thursday, 24 November, with the Final itself to take place in primetime following day one of the historic Vodafone Men’s Test between Australia and Afghanistan in Hobart.

The WBBL will continue to monitor the public health situation throughout the summer and prioritise the health and safety of fans, players, staff and officials in all its decisions.
