Gifted allrounder Meagan Dixon will return for a second season with the Adelaide Strikers in Weber WBBL|08.

The right-arm batter and medium pace swing bowler will be hunting a WBBL debut after injury cruelly sidelined her during last year’s tournament.

The 25-year-old is an accomplished indoor cricketer and represented Australia at the 2017 Indoor Cricket World Cup in Dubai.

She won Queensland Lightning’s Indoor Player of the Year Award on multiple occasions before securing a state contract with the Queensland Fire, earning her Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) debut in 2018.

Dixon blasted 23 runs from just 12 deliveries at a strike rate of 191 in the 2020-21 WNCL Final against Victoria to help Queensland clinch its maiden title.

Dixon said she was thrilled to be back for another season in blue in WBBL|08.

“It was amazing to be part of the squad last summer, even though I didn’t get a chance to take to the field. That’s only made me hungrier heading into this season,” Dixon said.

“We have such a promising group of players and I’m really excited to see what we can achieve together this year.”

Strikers Assistant Coach Jude Coleman knows first-hand the strengths that Dixon will bring to the squad.

“I know Meagan quite well as a former teammate back in Queensland’s indoor setup. She will be a really valuable player for us this season,” Coleman said.

“Meagan’s a really competitive, driven individual that will always do what’s best for the team. She’s an impact player and can make her mark on a match quickly with the ball, bat or in the field.

“We’re delighted to have her back this season.”

The Strikers begin their Weber WBBL|08 campaign against the Sydney Sixers in Mackay on October 15.
