Two Adelaide Strikers have earned selection in the KFC BBL|12 Team of the Tournament – Matt Short as an opening batter and Chris Lynn as 12th man.
Both batters finished in the top four of the leading run scorers, with Short winning the BKT Golden Bat Award for most runs in the competition with 458, while Lynn scored 416 in only 11 matches.
The two combined for some memorable innings, most notably the record BBL run chase against the Hurricanes at Adelaide Oval, where Short hit his maiden BBL century and Lynn made 64 off only 29 balls to chase the 230 runs.
It was Lynn’s first season for the Strikers and he thoroughly enjoyed his time in Adelaide.
“I’ve had some really good clarity in the changerooms, fresh faces, fresh support staff, fresh home ground – it’s been awesome, I’ve absolutely loved it,” Lynn said.
“I feel like I’ve had some handy contributions with the bat, but I’ve actually really enjoyed working with the young batters and the bowlers as well, that’s something that I have really, really enjoyed.
“As that elder pro in the side, scoring runs is a bonus – you have to have value off the field as well and that is something I’ve really taken pride in this summer.
“I like to think the boys have learnt some valuable lessons along the way.”
Recently named BBL Player of the Tournament, Short also loves his summers in Adelaide.
“It’s a great wicket to bat on, I love breaking up my year and heading to Adelaide for a little bit, it’s a great place and it holds a special place in my heart,” Short said.
“I’m very happy in Adelaide, they’ve been good to me and given me the opportunities the last five years.
“When we fire we’re pretty much unstoppable, we’ve got all bases covered, it’s just a consistency thing – it’s all in the squad we just need to put it all together.”
