Another dotted line has welcomed a signature today, with Adelaide Strikers announcing the return of Sarah Coyte for Weber WBBL|07.
The veteran allrounder, with more than 80 international fixtures and 74 WBBL clashes on the resume, has signed on for a fifth season in blue following a brilliant performance last summer that secured a position in the Team of the Tournament.
The right-arm medium quick’s 18 wickets were tied for the most in the regular season games and highlighted by an average of 16 and best figures of 3/10. Recorded during a dominant performance against Hobart Hurricanes, that effort was matched by a stunning runout also credited to Coyte as the Strikers ran away with a 64-run triumph.
Always reliable to perform when needed most, Coyte’s contributions last season weren’t limited to the fielding innings. Batting in the lower order, she regularly scored vital late runs, including some huge sixes that kept the Strikers alive late into the season.
A member of the Strikers inaugural squad, it is clear Coyte’s desire to represent Adelaide during WBBL has only grown with the passing of each season.
“I am so pumped for the season; Striker time is my favourite time of year. We have such a great group and I have been looking forward to this all year. I can’t wait to see our fans again in person and celebrate another awesome WBBL season.”
Strikers Assistant Coach Jude Coleman is delighted to welcome Coyte back to Adelaide.
“Sarah has been a proven performer for so long and is such a huge part of this team, she is just someone that you want playing for your side. Sarah brings experience, skill and competitiveness that inspires those around her; we know that WBBL|07 will be another great tournament for her.”
Coyte joins an ever-lengthening list of players to re-commit to the Strikers ahead of the Weber WBBL|07, including pace prodigy Darcie Brown, South African international Laura Wolvaardt and opening batter Bridget Patterson.
