Matt Short’s time in blue certainly can’t be compared with his surname, with the big-hitting allrounder penning a fresh two year deal as an Adelaide Striker.
The contract extension will take Short’s KFC Big Bash career in the southern state into a fourth and fifth season, something reflective of the positive impact the Victorian native has on the squad on gameday as well as away from the playing surface.
On his decision to remain a Striker for BBL|11 and BBL|12, Short pointed to his love of the city, the historic Adelaide Oval and the passionate fans that fill both.
‘I am super pumped and grateful to be staying in Adelaide for another season; it is a place that I have always loved coming to, including while growing up. There is nothing better than playing in a packed Adelaide Oval and I can’t wait to join up with the Strikers crew and hopefully entertain the awesome fans.’
Set to build upon his 37 Big Bash appearances, Short brings quality to every aspect of the contest. With bat in hand, the right-hander has a career strike-rate well over 100 alongside a top score of 65 as well as best figures of 2/14 bowling handy off-spinners. Supremely athletic, Short also has 16 catches to his name in Big Bash cricket.
Kate Harkness, General Manager Adelaide Strikers, is thrilled to welcome Short back.
‘Matt is a fantastic person that contributes strongly to the Strikers both on and off the field. He is a committed and valuable member of our team, and we are delighted that he has agreed to return to Adelaide for at least the next two seasons.’
