The Adelaide Strikers’ strike-bowler Henry Thornton will return to Adelaide Oval for another season, signing a two-season deal to remain in blue.

Thornton has played 23 matches for the Strikers in three seasons, taking 36 wickets at an average of 18.63.

His best season was in BBL|12 where he took 16 wickets, including an incredible best of 5-3 – the most economical figures ever in the BBL – as he spearheaded the famous all-out-15 match against Sydney Thunder.

The right-armer joined the Strikers ahead of BBL|11, after playing one match for the Sydney Sixers.

A highlight of 2023 was Thornton taking seven wickets on debut for Australia A, after being a late call up to the one-day match just the day before.

Thornton can’t wait to get back out onto Adelaide Oval.

“South Australia has been my home now for three years, so it was an easy choice to stay here and continue on with the Strikers,” Thornton said.

“I’ve loved my time with this team, love playing on the best Oval in the world and I’m excited to do it again in front of our great fans in BBL|14 and BBL|15.”

Strikers Interim General Manager Cricket Shaun Williams said Thornton is an integral member of the Strikers.

“Henry has had an electric few years at the Strikers and we are glad that will be continuing this season,” Williams said.

“We can always rely on him to strike when he comes into the attack and we are excited to see him in action on Adelaide Oval again.”

This news comes after Thornton’s partner in crime in the all-out-15 match, Wes Agar, was traded to the Sydney Thunder earlier in the off-season.
