The Adelaide Strikers today thank Peter Siddle for six incredible seasons in blue, with confirmation that the popular quick will not call Adelaide home for the upcoming KFC BBL|13 tournament.

Siddle has taken the field as a Striker on 72 occasions and departs as the Club’s second-highest wicket taker with 91, just seven beyond international star Rashid Khan.

Siddle and Rashid, who both joined the Strikers ahead of the Championship winning BBL|07, have remarkably similar figures across those seasons, something that speaks to the elite performances Siddle has consistently delivered for Adelaide.

The only Striker to have multiple five-wicket games, Siddle owns best figures of 5/16 and has bowled almost 1500 deliveries at the impressive strike-rate of 16.02.

Strikers General Manager, Cricket Tim Nielsen cannot speak highly enough of Siddle’s impact across the journey.

“Sidds has been the heart and soul of the Adelaide Strikers and we wish him all the best as he moves into the next chapter of his career,” Nielsen said.

“Wherever Sidds uses his talents next, they’ll get not only an elite cricketer, but a great leader who goes about it the right way.

“We thank Sidds for everything he has done for the Strikers – he is the kind of player that leaves an imprint on a team and we are extremely fortunate that he has done that here.”

Head Coach Jason Gillespie echoed those sentiments.

“A pleasure to coach, Sidds has given everything for the Strikers from the day he arrived,” Gillespie said.

“I know how much he loves playing at Adelaide Oval and it went both ways, the crowd here just love cheering Sids on as he charges towards the crease. His time in Adelaide will always be fondly remembered, especially given he was such a vital part of our Championship winning season.”

Regularly performing the captaincy duties, Siddle stepped in as full-time skipper during the Strikers BBL|11 campaign in the international absence of Travis Head and Alex Carey.

During the Strikers Championship winning run in BBL|07, Siddle combined with fellow bowlers Rashid, Ben Laughlin, Michael Neser and Billy Stanlake to deliver a maiden Big Bash title to Adelaide. Finishing with 11 wickets, best figures of 3/17 and an economy rate below six, Siddle was crucial throughout the season in the ultimately successful chase for silverware.

A fan favourite throughout his entire cricketing career, Siddle was joyously embraced by Strikers fans for his unrelenting commitment to the cause and positive personality. All throughout summer, the extremely popular blue sunglasses made in his honour and dubbed ‘P-Siddy’s’ are seen across Adelaide in a sign of the regard Siddle is held in.

One of the most prolific Strikers in history, Siddle will always be associated with the Strikers thanks to the remarkable achievements he amassed in blue. The Strikers cannot thank him enough for what he has done for cricket in South Australia and wish him luck for everything that the future holds.
