The Adelaide Strikers are an Australian professional Twenty20 cricket team based in Adelaide, South Australia, competing in the Big Bash League (BBL). Established in 2011, they succeeded the Southern Redbacks, who played in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. The Weber WBBL|09 and KFC BBL|13 Overseas Player Drafts will be held in Melbourne on Sunday and a group of new Strikers will join the franchise.

Both drafts will be broadcast on Fox Cricket and Kayo Sports on Sunday, September 3, with the WBBL Draft kicking off at 5pm ACST, immediately followed by the BBL Draft at 6.30pm ACST.

The drafts will each feature four rounds, with Clubs required to select a minimum of two and maximum of three international players to complete their lists.

The opening two rounds will follow the selected draft order (see below) before rounds three and four amend to a snaking structure.

In a first for Big Bash cricket, Clubs are now able to trade draft picks which may change the currently stated order.

Weighted lotteries were held in July, with the Strikers receiving Pick Eight for the inaugural WBBL Draft and drawing Pick Two for the second edition of the BBL Draft.

Twenty-five players for both the men and women drafts have been unveiled as Platinum players.

Each of the league’s eight clubs are granted one retention pick for the draft for an overseas player that either played for them the previous season or for two consecutive seasons and hasn’t played for another BBL club since.

The retention pick must be used in the same round where an opposing club attempts to poach the player.

The Strikers have retention rights for platinum players Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa), Deandra Dottin and Stefanie Taylor (both West Indies) in the WBBL Draft, whilst Rashid Khan (Afghanistan) is the only platinum player the Strikers have retention rights for in BBL.

Only platinum players can be taken in the first round of both drafts, with both platinum and gold permitted in the second round.

See a full list of the platinum players on the Cricket Australia website.
