Adelaide Strikers Weber WBBL|07 squad departed for Tasmania this morning, with four games scheduled in Australia’s southernmost state to begin the tournament.

Megan Schutt and Annie O’Neil will remain in Adelaide for the opening fixtures, with all rounder Ella Wilson and top-order batter Tess Cooper travelling as replacement players.

Schutt misses the Tasmanian leg to be with family following the birth of her first child, Rylee, with wife Jess. Born prematurely, Rylee has already displayed the amazing strength both Megan and Jess possess in endless amounts, with the family recently leaving hospital to be at home.

For O’Neil, it has been a quiet period on the training track while managing a back injury, and so she will look to build her loads in Premier Cricket in anticipation of the Strikers second wave of games.

Cooper joins the Strikers from Queensland, where she has represented the Fire in the WNCL and Brisbane Heat in WBBL cricket. Teenager Wilson, who will be combining cricket with Year 12 studies while in Tasmania, is an exciting prospect from Glenelg District Cricket Club who will be looking to impress as her career continues to build pace.

Adelaide Strikers begin their campaign against Sydney Thunder on Saturday 16 October in Hobart at 6.35pm local time.

Strikers WBBL|07 travelling squad for Tasmanian leg: Darcie Brown, Tahlia McGrath, Dane van Niekerk (SA), Laura Wolvaardt (SA), Jemma Barsby, Nell Bryson-Smith, Sarah Coyte, Meagan Dixon, Katie Mack, Tegan McPharlin, Bridget Patterson, Maddie Penna, Amanda-Jade Wellington, Ella Wilson, Tess Cooper
