Weber WBBL|08 is set to return to the heartland of the Barossa for the first time since 2019, when the Adelaide Strikers head to Nuriootpa in November.

Nuriootpa’s Centennial Park has today been confirmed to host the Sunday, November 13 clash between the Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars, in a rematch of the first fixture held in the Barossa back in 2019.

The Strikers proved victorious on that day, triumphantly defeating the Stars by 57 runs.

Barossa fans will have the opportunity to see some of Australian cricket’s best and brightest stars, with the likes of Tahlia McGrath, Megan Schutt and Amanda-Jade Wellington joining hometown hero, Darcie Brown.

The announcement comes ahead of Cricket Australia revealing the complete WBBL|08 fixture tomorrow.

Charlie Hodgson, SACA Chief Executive said:

“We are delighted that the Strikers will have the opportunity to take our game back to the Barossa in Weber WBBL|08.

“The Strikers have some of world cricket’s biggest and brightest stars, and we are extremely excited that fans in the region will be able to see them up close and personal for the first time since 2019.

“The growth of female cricket across regional South Australia has been substantial in recent years, and nowhere more so than in the Barossa.

“The Nuriootpa Cricket Club is an outstanding facility, and we appreciate the hard work of all involved to ensure the grounds are up to the highest standard.

“We thank the Nuriootpa Cricket Club, The Barossa Council, Barossa and Light Cricket Association and the Nuriootpa Centennial Park Authority for their support in bringing this event to life.”

Bim Lange, The Barossa Council Mayor said:

“We’re thrilled to work alongside the SACA, Nuriootpa Cricket Club and Nuriootpa Centennial Park Authority to bring yet another high-quality sporting fixture to the Barossa this summer.

“We’re confident of seeing big crowds turn out once again to see the Adelaide Strikers in action.

“High-profile events like the WBBL are key to our vision of making the Barossa the State’s best regional sports event tourism destination.”

Tickets to all Weber WBBL|08 matches will be available via pre-sale on August 16 and available to the public from August 18.
