Adelaide Strikers alltime leading wicket-taker Amanda-Jade Wellington has extended her stay at her hometown club for a further three years.

The 24-year-old leg-spinner was part of the inaugural playing squad in 2015, and she has taken 80 wickets with best bowling of 4/24 in 85 matches played.

She is also equal-most capped alongside Australian bowler Megan Schutt, and top-order batter Bridget Patterson. The trio have incredibly played in every single Strikers fixture to date.

Wellington also displayed strong improvement and commitment to her batting game, with 164 runs in WBBL|06, and a healthy strike rate of 138.98.

Her 48 off just 25 deliveries earned her Player of the Match honours in last season’s final match against Perth Scorchers which resulted in a thrilling three-run win.

The announcement caps a great day for Strikers fans, who will also have three games at Karen Rolton Oval, and one at Centennial Park Oval in Nuriootpa, in the WBBL|07 fixture announced today.

Wellington said the choice was clear to continue her Big Bash career at the Strikers.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Strikers blue since my very first game and can’t wait to continue for another three seasons,” she said.

“We are like a big family here and I can’t wait to see the fans again at Karen Rolton Oval and in Nuriootpa, where we loved playing a couple of years ago.

“We finished on a high last season and hope to continue that momentum into a bigger Big Bash season for all.”

The Adelaide Strikers will begin their WBBL|07 away to the Sydney Thunder at North Sydney Oval on Saturday, 16 October, which will be broadcast live in primetime.

The Strikers will play their first home game of the season against Perth Scorchers on Saturday, 6 November, and then will head to Nuriootpa on the Sunday to play the Sixers.
