Inaugural Adelaide Striker Amanda-Jade Wellington will be at the Club until the end of WBBL|11, having signed a three-year contract extension.
In the Championship winning WBBL|08, Wellington was named in the Team of the Tournament after taking 21 wickets in the minor round, before taking another two in the finals and bowling the crucial final over in The Final against the Sydney Sixers.
Wellington said it was “awesome” to re-sign with the Strikers long-term.
“To sign for another three years, it’s pretty cool given I’ve been here since day one,” Wellington said.
“I love loyalty and the Strikers, I’m getting a really good opportunity, I’m making an impact, I think the fans are the best in the competition – why would I want to leave?
“It’s really positive and really reassuring that Tim (Nielsen) and Luke (Williams) have big faith in me and think that I’m going to be an impact player for the next three years.
“Strikers feel like home to me and that’s where I want to be.”
SACA General Manager, Cricket Tim Nielsen said the leg spinner has been an integral part of the side since the beginning of WBBL.
“It’s great to have someone of Amanda-Jade’s experience and talent re-commit with us long-term,” Nielsen said.
“’Wello’ has been a big part of our Strikers team for eight years now and we are looking forward to seeing her continue to contribute for the next three seasons.”
Wellington is currently in the UK playing for Australia A.
