After eight seasons in blue the Adelaide Strikers are farewelling Wes Agar, with the fast bowler traded to Sydney Thunder ahead of the KFC BBL|14 season.

The trade between the two sides saw the Strikers send Agar and their round two pick to the Thunder, in return receiving the Sydney sides’ second round pick, subsequently improving the Strikers draft position.

Joining the Strikers ahead of BBL|06, Agar was an incredibly consistent contributor for Adelaide, taking 69 wickets in the 56 matches he played.

He earned the Strikers MVP award for his BBL|10 season which saw him take 22 wickets, the fourth highest in the competition.

Agar’s best bowling figures of 4-6 came in an unforgettable performance, where he and Henry Thornton combined to bowl the Thunder out for a record low 15 runs in BBL|12 – another season where he was the Strikers’ leading wicket-taker.

Currently, he is the Strikers third highest all-time wicket-taker, behind only Rashid Khan and Peter Siddle.

Strikers Interim General Manager, Cricket, Shaun Williams thanked Agar.

“Wes has been an integral part of the Strikers for years both on and off the field and we thank him for everything he has contributed to the side,” Williams said.

“We understand Wes’ desire for a fresh opportunity at the Sydney Thunder and wish him all the best with the move.

“We are pleased we were able to improve our draft position as part of this trade ahead of the BBL|14 draft later this year.”

So far this off-season, the Strikers have re-signed Team of the Tournament member Cameron Boyce, with more announcements expected in coming months.
