Afghanistan Cricket Board terminated the Commercial Rights Agreement for Afghanistan Premier League T20 (APLT20) with the previous investment partner in September last year due to material breaches of the agreement by Snixer Sports particularly relating to non-payment of dues and risk posed for the integrity of the league by people within and connected to Snixer Sports.
ACB has now received a notification from London Court of International Arbitration that Snixer Sports have filed a case following the Commercial Rights Agreement termination by ACB. This is prompted by ACB’s recent announcement to look for a trustworthy and financially stable partner to invest in the upcoming editions of the Afghanistan Premier League T20.
Failures from Snixer Sports to pay the outstanding rights fees and dues despite considerable flexibility from ACB exposed Snixer Sports’ financial inability to hold the second edition of the league as per contractual requirements from the investment partner. Severe concerns by International Cricket Council Anti-Corruption Unit about people within and connected to Snixer Sports also posed a major threat to the integrity of the league.

As the sole governing body of Cricket in Afghanistan and a Full Member of the International Cricket Council, the integrity of the game is of utmost importance for ACB as part of its commitment to ensuring transparency in all its affairs and accountability to all stakeholders. ACB will respond to the Arbitration case from a position of strength and cooperate fully with London Court of International Arbitration in light of legal provisions in the Commercial Rights Agreement with Snixer Sports.
