“All eyes on bilateral ties” Mirwais Ashraf in a meeting with ACB Managers

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is the governing body for cricket in Afghanistan. It joined the ICC in 2001, became an associate member in 2013, and a full member in 2017. The ACB is also part of the Asian Cricket Council.

Mirwais Ashraf, the newly appointed ACB acting Chairman, in an introductory meeting with the departmental managers of the ACB and advised them for having better coordination in between them for achieving the organizational goals as well as insisted on building & maintaining positive bilateral ties with the new government, the cricket governing body and other cricketing nations.

Mr. Mirwais Ashraf pointed out the meeting with the importance of having effective ties with the government, the international cricket council and other cricketing nations and its impacts on the development of the game in the country.
“We will be working to build, maintain and utilize the link we have got and relationship with the boards and the ICC in the development of the game and spreading it down to all parts of the country”. He added. He also said that they will strive hard to arrange more games for the national teams with the bigger countries.

Mr. Mirwais Ashraf also added that that women cricket is one of the major requirements of the ICC and they are committed to obtaining it. “Our girls will be playing cricket on the normal basis and we are looking to provide them with their basic needs and all the facilities, they need”. He also said that the ICC requirements are valued to the ACB and they are doing their best to obtain them.

Pointing out the problems in ACB, he said that they will work hard to do well and solve the problems together. “Every employee must stay committed to the ACB and must strive hard to do well in their own parts”. He added. Mr. Ashraf also advised the managers to have better coordination with one another, follow all the rules and guidelines and perform all the duties and responsibilities that are assigned to them.
ACB’s CEO Mr. Naseeb Khan congratulated Mirwais Ashraf on taking charge as the ACB Chairman and considered this appointment as a good move for the organization. He added that the ACB have got the eyes of 30m afghan residents upon itself, so they must work hard to do what is required the most for ACB and Afghan Cricket.

Mr. Naseeb Khan also pointed out they have had lots of effective meetings with the various stakeholders in the UAE and is hopeful of having good news in the near future. “We have had a productive meeting with the BCCI head Mr. Sourav Ganguly, and also have met officials from other cricketing nations to discuss a lot about having bilateral ties with them” he added.

The departmental managers have welcomed the appointment of Mr. Mirwais Ashraf as the acting chairman of the ACB, assured him off their immense support and collaboration in their operations and promised him, that they will stay committed to do everything in the favor of this organization.
