Role Summary
The Assistant Coach Male Performance Programme is a key part of the overall Performance and Talent programme at Auckland Cricket. The position will work closely in collaboration with the Head Coach Male Performance Programme to implement a high-performance coaching model aimed at improving the learning environment to support and develop all Auckland Aces Blackcaps, Auckland Aces contracted players, and identified players of interest in the Auckland Cricket talent programmes.
Alongside our Head Coach Male Performance Programme, the role will assist in leading our male performance programme to develop an inclusive learning environment that allows all individuals and the team to thrive.
This position is a key role in the structure of our Performance and Talent team at Auckland Cricket.
Structure and Salary
We are interested in expressions of interest from coaches for:
- A full 12-month term;
- A 7.5 term aligned to the domestic men’s season (1 September – 15 April); or
- Format by format, or campaign specific roles (see indicative season dates below).

Plunket Shield rounds 1-4: 11 November – 10 December 2024
Super Smash: 26 December 2024 – 2 February 2025
Ford Trophy rounds 6-10: 6 February – 2 March 2025
Plunket Shield rounds 5-8: 5 March – 1 April 2025
Desired Skills and Experience
- First class playing and/or coaching experience with minimum NZC Level II/III qualification (or international equivalent).
- Cricket knowledge relating to the technical and tactical requirements of the modern game with a demonstrated history and ability to coach a specific skill set associated with performance cricket.
- Ability to support the Head Coach in formulating team plans and individual player coaching.
- A detailed understanding of how an elite sports team operates.
- Strong relationship building skills that promote effective communication and high-level emotional intelligence towards all key stakeholders, in particular players.
- A team player who can contribute as part of a collective to the overall objectives for Auckland Cricket.
- High level of drive, ambition and passion towards professional development and personal growth.
- Technology skills that align to the demands of modern workplace and professional sporting environments.
