The Auckland ACES will face another stern test against the Central Stags, when an unchanged squad start tomorrow at Saxton Oval in Nelson.
After Saturday’s tense final morning finish, which saw Stags allrounder Doug Bracewell threaten to snatch a famous victory, the ACES hit the road for the first time this summer.
Head Coach Heinrich Malan has the ACES feet firmly on the ground after back-to-back wins.
“While it has been a solid start to the season, it is still very early in the competition.
“We know that four-day cricket is always a massive challenge and playing away from home has proved challenging for us over the past couple of seasons.”
Malan is pleased with the ACES character through the first two matches but said there is room for improvement.
“We have played some good cricket. We also know that we haven’t played close to the perfect game yet.
“That being said, good sides find a way to get across the line and we have managed to do that.”
“Playing the Stags is always tough; they have grown to be a competitive side and we will be ready for another challenge in Round Three.”
