The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expresses deep bereavement at the passing away of Kazi Abdus Sattar (Kachi), former Venue Manager of Khulna’s Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium.
Kazi Abdus Sattar breathed his last at the Gazi Medical College & Hospital in Khulna today. He was 68 at the time of his passing. The BCB extends heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the family of the departed.
Kazi Abdus Sattar had joined the BCB as Venue Manager for Khulna in August 2004 and retired on completion of his service in February 2019. He was a renowned cricketer of Khulna of his time and had represented the BCCB South Zone team against the visiting MCC in their 1976-77 tour. He also played in the Dhaka First Division League for Azad Boys Club and Shantinagar Club. After retiring as a player Kazi Abdus Sattar became a cricket coach and had been charge of the Khulna Division Team in the National Cricket League (NCL) first class competition and the Khulna district and youth teams. Under his coaching Khulna lifted their first ever NCL four-day title in the 2002-2003 season.
BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury in a message said: “Kazi Abdus Sattar was a true gentleman and a very humble person. He was a man of cricket and was a dedicated personality who had successfully overseen many international and domestic events in Khulna as a venue manager. We pray for the salvation of his soul.”
