The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering hosting the IPL 2025 mega auction outside India, with London and the UAE being the main options. The BCCI is aiming to hold the auction before Jay Shah takes office as ICC Chairman on December 1.

While discussions have taken place, no final decision on the host city has been made. According to reports, the BCCI plans to hold the auction in November, and talks with IPL franchises are ongoing.

The IPL 2024 auction was held in December in Dubai, marking the first time the auction took place outside India. The BCCI had previously aimed to hold auctions abroad but succeeded for the first time last year.

The BCCI’s plan to hold the IPL 2025 auction in November is driven by the goal to complete the process before Jay Shah assumes the role of ICC Chairman in December. IPL retention rules are expected to be announced by the end of this month, giving the ten franchises around two months to prepare for the auction.

According to Cricbuzz, the auction is likely to take place in the third or fourth week of November, with possible venues in the Middle East and London. Teams are expected to finalize their retention lists by mid-November.

Additionally, IPL teams are in talks with coaches who previously worked with Rahul Dravid on the Indian team. Vikram Rathour is reportedly close to joining Dravid at Rajasthan Royals, while Paras Mhambrey has declined a commentary role to engage in talks with franchises.

Punjab Kings recently named Ricky Ponting as their new head coach, and former Indian pacer Munaf Patel is also expected to secure a coaching position ahead of the 2025 season.
