Bazley & Bryant bring big smiles to kids in hospital

The Brisbane Heat have joined forces with JuicedTV to raise funds for entertainment initiatives that support sick kids in Queensland

Kids at the Queensland Children’s Hospital will receive a surprise visit from Brisbane Heat players James Bazley and Max Bryant ahead of the Heat’s showdown match against the Hobart Hurricanes on Friday.

The hospital playground will be transformed into a cricket pitch for the afternoon as the Heat stars have a bat and bowl with young cricket fans.

Bazley said he’s thrilled to visit the JuicedTV kids in person again following a few seasons where restrictions were in place.

“It’s such an honour to be involved in these sorts of visits. It’s been tricky over the last few years to meet the kids face to face, so we’re happy to be able to bring the Big Bash to them this summer.”

“The Brisbane Heat is all about bringing families together and JuicedTV does an outstanding job at giving kids and their families the opportunity to laugh, create, inspire and entertain. It goes hand and hand with what we’re all about.”

The Heat have participated in activities with JuicedTV for several years but officially joined forces with the non-for-profit this season to raise funds for the charity through the Queensland Cricket Foundation. At the pre-Christmas match, $6,252 was raised through the 50-50 raffle to support important entertainment initiatives and experiences for kids during their hospital stay.

The Brisbane Heat also welcomed 16 kids and their families to the Gabba this season so they could experience the thrill and excitement of a Big Bash match.

JuicedTV CEO and Founder Pip Forbes said player visits provide a meaningful and memorable experience for patients, especially those that aren’t well enough to leave hospital to attend a game.

“We’ve been so grateful for the support of the Brisbane Heat since Juiced started eight years ago. Every year without hesitation the players have taken part in numerous hospital visits, hosted patients at games with a full VIP experience to help us make dreams come true, and have also supported us with some vital fundraising over the years.

“For so many of the kids admitted to hospital, they’re experiencing long periods of isolation and are missing out on so many experiences that their friends and family continue to participate in. To receive a visit like this brings so much joy and really breaks up their hospital stay, you can never underestimate the power of a smile and sense of connection.”

The final two Brisbane Heat home games will be taking place at the Gabba this Friday at 7pm and on Sunday at 12:40pm.
