The Brisbane Heat have thanked foundation player Ben Cutting for his great service to the club following confirmation of his move to the Sydney Thunder today.

The 33-year-old allrounder holds the record for most games for the club, registering 82 matches for the Heat since being part of their inaugural BBL|01 squad.

He also holds the record for the most wickets in the club’s history, with 66 dismissals, and the second-most runs with 1258 behind Chris Lynn. His 50 from 17 balls against the Melbourne Stars in BBL|08 was the second fastest of all-time in the competition’s history.

Cutting was a member of the BBL|02 championship squad.

Brisbane Heat coach Darren Lehmann wished him well for the future.

“Ben has been a great contributor for the Heat for many years and the club and members and fans will miss him,’’ he said.

“On behalf of the Heat staff and players, I’d like to wish Ben all the best as he continues his career. He has always been generous with his time to help market and sell the game and has inspired plenty of families and kids at the Gabba and throughout Queensland along the way.”

“As a foundation player, he is a part of the fabric of the Heat and he will always be welcome at the club.”

Cutting’s move to the Thunder came about through a negotiated trade outcome between the two clubs.
