The Brisbane Heat have included Australian Test batsman Joe Burns in their squad for the first time in this year’s KFC Big Bash League competition.

Burns comes into the 13-man squad in place of Cameron Gannon to prepare for tomorrow night’s clash with the Hobart Hurricanes at the Gabba.

Burns, who has played 45 matches for the Heat in his career, will train with the team tonight at the Gabba after returning to Brisbane yesterday following Australia’s Test clean-sweep against New Zealand at the SCG on Monday.

He needs seven runs to achieve 1000 runs for the Heat in the BBL.

Fellow Test player James Pattinson is targeting the Heat’s match against the Perth Scorchers in Perth on Saturday for his initial match of BBL|09.

Brisbane has won its past two games away from home, defeating the Hurricanes in Hobart and then beating the Sydney Thunder in a rain-affected match on Monday.

Tomorrow night’s match starts at 6.10pm.

Tickets are selling fast for the match, with tickets available from Ticketek.
