The Brisbane Heat will this month bring down the curtain on their award-winning, eight- season collaboration with Principal Partner Great Southern Bank.
The formal end of the partnership on 30 June means the financial institution will finish as the club’s longest-serving Principal Partners, with the initial sponsorship signed in 2016 between the Heat and Credit Union Australia (CUA), which successfully transformed to Great Southern Bank three years ago.
During Great Southern Bank’s association with the club, the Heat won two WBBL titles and were runners-up in the Weber Women’s Big Bash League while the BBL side finished the KFC Big Bash League season as champions.
Queensland Cricket and Brisbane Heat CEO Terry Svenson congratulated Great Southern Bank and its management, staff and customers for their enthusiasm and dedication to making the eight-year partnership a success.
“Whilst we will continue to strive to be the best club in the Big Bash as we head into the future, the Brisbane Heat will always be thankful and mindful of the shared sense of purpose and vision between our two organisations over the past eight years,’’ he said.
“Queensland Cricket prides itself on establishing lasting relationships with our commercial partners, and the Brisbane Heat’s deep connection to Great Southern Bank is a prime example of how we have collaborated successfully.
“There have been many moments to savour on and off the field, and we were delighted to play our part in assisting Great Southern Bank achieve their goals of helping Australians own their own homes, while at the same time supporting our vision to grow the game.”
“To Great Southern Bank Chief Executive Officer Paul Lewis and Chief Customer Officer Megan Keleher and their dedicated executive team, we thank them deeply for their commitment to us, and wish them individually and collectively, every success into the future,” he said.
Svenson said the partnership had featured several innovative and creative initiatives. This includes the launch of Heat VR, as well as a series of iconic promotions at the Gabba such as the House Party which provided Brisbane Heat fans with all the comforts of home with the atmosphere of a house party.
During the term of the partnership, the Heat significantly grew its digital and social media reach and interaction, finishing the 2023-24 season as Oceania’s most followed club across all social channels, with crowds, broadcast viewers and the club’s membership all growing year-on-year.
The Heat also played a significant role in assisting Great Southern Bank increase consideration among BBL fans by 19 points during the 2023/2024 season.
Queensland Cricket also recently concluded its long-term deal with major sponsors Betta Home Living after 12 years with the club.
The Heat will announce new Principal and Major Partners joining the club’s partner family in the coming month.
