The reigning rebel Women’s Big Bash League champions could unveil up to four potential debutants in tomorrow’s opening WBBL match at North Sydney Oval.

The 13-player WBBL Brisbane Heat squad named for the clash with the Perth Scorchers for the initial game in the competition contains four possible first-time selections for the two-time champions.

Wicket-keeper/batter Georgia Redmayne, South African allrounder Nadine de Klerk, ACT pace bowler Nicola Hancock and teenage allrounder Georgia Voll would made their Heat debuts if included in the starting side after joining the Heat for the first time this year.

Heat coach Ashley Noffke said the final XI would be settled on the morning of the match once they had examined the pitch and conditions at the ground.

“There’s plenty of versatility in this squad, and that flows across the entire playing group, so we will look at the conditions and then finalise our best match-ups for the opposition,’’ he said.

“It’s exciting to finally be here on the verge of the tournament starting. It’s a clean slate for all of the teams so it’s up to us to be clear and focused on what we want to achieve.”

Allrounder Charli Knott and off-spinner Lilly Mills are the two players who have missed out for this game.

New Heat captain Jess Jonassen and batter Mikayla Hinkley represented Brisbane this morning at the First Nations Acknowledgement Ceremony at the Sydney Showgrounds.

Hinkley traces her Indigenous heritage to the Kunja people who are centered around Cunnamulla, Charleville and Augathella in western Queensland.

The Heat will back-up on Monday against last year’s semi-final opponents, the Melbourne Renegades, at Hurstville Oval.
