Last week, the Brisbane Heat crew took off on the annual StreetSmarts Regional Tour with 4 towns in outback Queensland on the itinerary: Biloela, Moranbah, Charters Towers & Malanda.

The StreetSmarts Regional Tour is the Brisbane Heat and Queensland Cricket’s annual visit to regional areas in Queensland to promote cricket sign-on and road safety awareness.

Terry Svenson, CEO of Queensland Cricket & Brisbane Heat said the club was delighted to be visiting regional towns in Queensland once again. “We’re excited to have the Brisbane Heat crew out in regional Queensland, to support entry level and junior cricket participation growth in these regions and hopefully inspire local kids to join a cricket club if they haven’t already” he said.

The tour was partnered with StreetSmarts are a long-time supporter of the Heat, with the partnership aimed at promoting road safety messages to all Queenslanders with a focus on junior participants and primary school students.

Over 200 kids came out to the programs, eager to verse Heater in Bowling Bingo, beat him in the Biggest Hitting Competition and have a Heater dance off. Participants also brushed up on their road safety knowledge.

The Regional Tour forms part of a 12-month campaign with the Heat that also features social media content and the StreetSmarts Innings Break Fireworks show at home BBL games.

The tail end of the StreetSmarts Regional Tour leads into the opening rounds of the Weber Women’s Big Bash League this week in Mackay, with the Heat playing three games against the Sydney Sixers, the Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades.
