There was cause for a double celebration at the Heat today with the captaincy announcement followed by news that sponsor National Storage had renewed its association with the club for a further two years.

National Storage’s new deal will feature its branding on the sleeve of both the Heat’s WBBL and BBL recently launched Nike playing strips.

National Storage came on board as a sponsor with the Heat in 2015, and the latest agreement will cover the 2021 and 2022 Big Bash Leagues.

National Storage Managing Director Andrew Catsoulis said: “National Storage is thrilled to announce the extension of our partnership with both the WBBL and BBL Brisbane Heat teams. We look forward to being a part of the Summer of cricket, and continuing to support the Heat, and particularly women in sport.”

Queensland Cricket CEO Terry Svenson congratulated National Storage on extending their commitment to the club.

“We are delighted that National Storage will appear on the fresh new Nike playing strips for the WBBL and BBL this season alongside our premier partners Great Southern Bank and Betta.”

“They have been loyal and enthusiastic partners and we take much pleasure in welcoming them along for a further two years.”

Svenson said the appointment of Peirson as Heat captain had been unanimously endorsed by all involved in the process.

“The Heat have had some outstanding individuals lead them on and off the field during the club’s history, with James Hopes, Brendon McCullum and Chris Lynn taking on the role over multiple seasons. We’re pleased for Jimmy that he can now put his own stamp on the role.”

“The Board of Directors and the Brisbane Heat committee all enthusiastically agreed on the appointment, and we look forward to supporting Jimmy and the team when it comes time to the season,’’ he said.

The Heat have announced Jimmy Peirson (c), Chris Lynn, Xavier Bartlett, Sam Heazlett, Mark Steketee, Mitch Swepson, Matt Willans, Tom Cooper, Michael Neser, Marnus Labuschagne, Mujeeb Ur Rahman (international) and Ben Duckett (International) as players under contract for BBL|11 and beyond.
