The Brisbane Heat’s marquee fixture, the New Year’s Bash, will return to the Gabba on 1 January with the Heat set to challenge their southern rivals, the Sydney Sixers, in the men’s KFC Big Bash League competition.
Heat fans are in for a treat with LA-based electronic pop music group PNAU booked to headline the StreetSmarts Innings Break Show. The group are best known for their chart-topping dance hits including ‘Go Bang’, ‘Chameleon’ and their award-winning remix of ‘Cold Heart’ featuring Elton John and Dua Lipa. PNAU will be supported by indie pop singer Eves Karydas who will perform a pre-game show at sunset. For more event information head to brisbaneheat.com.au/new-years-bash
The music artist drop comes as the Brisbane Heat announce a partnership with Queensland Music Trails, who will assist the club in bringing this major event to life as the New Year’s Bash Presenting Partner.
Brisbane Heat General Manager of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Pete Lock, said the purpose of the New Year’s Bash is to give fans a ‘summer music festival’ experience as they enjoy the thrill of a Big Bash match at the most exciting time of year.
““Securing PNAU as our New Year’s Bash headliner and having Queensland’s own Eves Karydas as our pre-game performer is a huge win for the Brisbane Heat and our fans,””— Pete Lock – Brisbane Heat’s General Manager of Marketing & Corporate Affairs
“Our event last year which featured Peking Duk was a huge success for the club both on and off the field. It was our highest attended game in three years and broadcast ratings were through the roof. The Heat scored a crucial win against the Sixers, resulting in the club’s highest ever run total of 225. The live entertainment and the energy from a buzzing home crowd certainly fired up the boys on the pitch.”
“This year, we’re excited to be partnering with Queensland Music Trails who are the experts in delivering unmatched entertainment experiences for music fans in this state. They’ll certainly bring a lot of industry experience and knowledge to this event, and we’ll be working closely with them to deliver a memorable night for thousands of locals and visitors celebrating New Year’s Day in Brisbane.”
Queensland Music Trails Chief Operating Officer Daryl Raven said the organisation is thrilled to join forces with the Brisbane Heat for the New Year’s Bash.
“Queensland Music Trails is dedicated to creating immersive and unforgettable experiences in extraordinary locations, and the Gabba is a vital part of Queensland’s cultural landscape,” said Raven.
“We can’t wait to bring the magic of live music to this New Year’s Day celebration, and together with PNAU, Eves Karydas, and the Heat, we’re set to make it an unforgettable start to the year!”
