The Central Gauteng Lions (CGL) would like to congratulate all selected national players who will fly the South African flag in various series and tournaments. We are so proud and would like to give our seven players a hearty congratulations on receiving national contracts for the 2021/22 season.
With six Imperial Lions men’s players awarded, as well as the exceptionally talented CGL Ayabonga Khaka of the Momentum Proteas, the CGL and Lions Cricket will be well-represented for the upcoming tours.
The men’s international programme is inclusive of two ICC T20 World Cups in October and November of 2021 (India) as well as 2022 in Australia. In addition, there is the July 2021 limited overs tour to Ireland.
The women’s team will be focusing their efforts on the 2022 ICC Women’s World Cup in New Zealand in March and April 2022.
Central Gauteng Lions and Lions Cricket CEO Jono Leaf-Wright speaks with tremendous pride on the Unions contracted players;
“A warm congratulations to all, most especially our players who will now increase their efforts even more with the upcoming ICC World Cup events in sight. The sweat, tears, pain and determination do pay off and I wish our seven wonderful players everything of the very best as they continue to represent our Union and fly the SA flag with pride, joy and professionalism on and off the field. We support you, appreciate you and congratulate you!”
