The upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled for February, is generating significant excitement as teams prepare to compete for the prestigious title. However, the tournament’s location remains uncertain due to ongoing tensions regarding India‘s participation.

India has confirmed that it will not travel to Pakistan for the event, prompting extensive discussions among stakeholders. A potential solution is a hybrid model, where India would play their matches at a neutral venue while Pakistan continues to host the tournament.

A source told IANS, according to News24,Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants a written assurance from the World body (ICC) regarding a hybrid model for the future international events to be hosted by India. Decision on Champions Trophy most likely by Wednesday.’”

The Pakistan Cricket Board has made one of its most significant demands to the International Cricket Council following these developments. Multiple reports indicate that the PCB is seeking a formal written assurance from the ICC that the hybrid model will be implemented for all ICC tournaments hosted by India through 2027.

This arrangement is expected to include major events such as the Women’s World Cup in 2025, the Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026, and the 2025 Champions Trophy. The PCB’s request is driven by the need for certainty amidst ongoing logistical and political uncertainties.

A decision regarding the Champions Trophy 2025 is anticipated by Wednesday, according to reports. It is likely that all five group-stage matches involving India, including the highly anticipated India-Pakistan clash, will be held in Dubai. Should India qualify, the semi-finals and final of the tournament are also expected to take place in Dubai.

The Emirates Cricket Board is reportedly making extensive preparations for these matches, closely monitoring the ongoing negotiations. They will wait for the final resolution on the venue to ensure all logistical arrangements are in place for the tournament.

While the situation surrounding the Champions Trophy 2025 remains fluid, the hybrid model appears to be the most probable outcome. This approach offers a solution to the travel restrictions and ensures that the tournament can proceed as planned.
