Australian property investment and funds management group Charter Hall will continue their relationship with the NSW Breakers squad until 2026 after renewing the sponsorship of Cricket NSW for an additional three years.

Charter Hall are the Official Partner of Cricket NSW and Major Partner of the NSW Women’s Team, the Breakers.

Since the partnership began in 2021, Cricket NSW and Charter Hall have worked together to elevate the sport, encourage support and participation within the community and ensure the long-term success of the players.

This includes the creation of an ongoing mentorship program led by Charter Hall and designed to actively drive the players’ off-field success.

In the first year of the mentorship program, 11 of the Breakers’ 22-23 season contracted players were paired with a Charter Hall senior executive to mentor the women and help prepare them for life after cricket. This unique mentorship program was more than a one-way opportunity – Charter Hall’s mentors also benefited from the vast and varied experience of the players.

The partnership has also focused on celebrating the major strides that have been made in women’s sport, including a highly acclaimed TV commercial that celebrated the fact that the very first person to bowl overarm in cricket was a woman.

Cricket NSW CEO Lee Germon heralded the ongoing partnership.

“Charter Hall are a wonderful partner who are genuinely engaged in our programs as well as with our players individually through the mentoring partnership,” Germon said.

“We are thankful for their support of the Breakers and Cricket NSW in general, both on and off the field.”

Charter Hall Managing Director and Group CEO, David Harrison said, “Our approach to partnership is centred around making a positive impact on the futures of individuals and our communities more broadly, and our continued relationship with Cricket NSW is a reflection of that.

“Getting to know the Breakers squad beyond their outstanding performance on the field has been a rewarding experience for the Charter Hall mentors and we are pleased to be extending this program.”

Breakers fast bowler Maitlan Brown said the mentor program was extremely beneficial for the players.

“I found real value being matched with someone who lives a completely different life to me, while sport and the corporate world seem miles apart, we discovered similarities that have helped us get to where we are in life, which connected us,” Brown said.

Brown’s teammate Lauren Cheatle agreed, recognising the value in building a relationship with a mentor not directly connected to cricket.

“It’s been great to hear an opinion outside of our cricket bubble,” Cheatle said.

“The value of having someone who has limited knowledge about cricket means they can see you as a person first, which is really refreshing.”
