CHK: First international engagement in over 10 years for Hong Kong Women’s U19 Squad!

Cricket Hong Kong, formerly known as the Hong Kong Cricket Association, is the governing body for cricket in Hong Kong. Established in 1968, it is headquartered in So Kon Po, Causeway Bay. An associate member of the ICC since 1969, Cricket Hong Kong also belongs to the Asian Cricket Council.

Cricket Hong Kong, China is pleased to announce the Hong Kong, China Women’s U19 squad for the upcoming Malaysia Bilateral Series, which will be held in Malaysia between 10th February to 13th February 2024.

Hong Kong U19 Women’s team have not had a fixture since 2012 and the last time the U19 played was in the ACC U19 Women’s Championships and majority of our current Hong Kong Women’s Squad member played in that team.

Pathway coach Ghulam Saqlain will lead the team on their first tour, during which they will play four T20 matches against Malaysia Women’s U19. “We are excited about our inaugural tour to Malaysia!” exclaimed Ghulam Saqlain. “I believe Hong Kong has a wealth of talented young female cricketers, and it is an honor to develop an U19 team from the Pathway Program. The girls have been diligently training in the past few months to prepare for their first match, and I am eagerly anticipating their performance on the international stage.

17 years old Georgina Bradley has been named captain of the team alongside Mya Gardner, who has been named vice-captain.

Burji Shroff, Chairperson, Cricket Hong Kong, China said, “The speed of growth in the women’s cricket has been phenomenal and we are thrilled to see our young female wearing the red shirt to represent Hong Kong, China. Cricket Hong Kong, China will be committed to give opportunities and provide support to our future youngsters. I wish the team the very best of luck for the tournament.”
