The Hong Kong, China Women’s Cricket Team played the final of the Exciting Hangzhou East Asian Cup earlier today against the China Women’s National Team. The game was tied with both the China women team and the Hong Kong Women Team scored 72 runs. The China team were asked to bat by Hong Kong, China and managed to put up 72 runs for 10 wickets, while Hong Kong ended up on 72 with the fall of 9 wickets at the end of 20 overs.
Hong Kong, China however proved more experienced in the super over and managed to score 15 runs without losing any wickets, the China team score 4 runs and lost two wickets and handing Hong Kong the trophy
Japan was the third team competing in the East Asia Cup tournament. Hong Kong qualified for the final by winning 3 out of their 4 games, losing once to China. While China won two of their games against Hong Kong China and Japan to qualify for the final. Japan managed to win only one game against China.
The standout performance for Hong Kong in the final were Alison Siu taking 5 wickets for only 8 runs in her 4 over spell the batting was supported by Shanzeen Shahzad‘s 26 runs from 41 balls and Maryam Bibi played a special innings of 13 runs in 5 balls (including a six) in the super over to seal the final for Hong Kong China.
Alison Siu was named player of the final, while skipper Kary Chan was Player of the Tournament
