CHK: Hong Kong to host the Asian Cricket Council Women’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup in June 2023

Cricket Hong Kong, formerly known as the Hong Kong Cricket Association, is the governing body for cricket in Hong Kong. Established in 1968, it is headquartered in So Kon Po, Causeway Bay. An associate member of the ICC since 1969, Cricket Hong Kong also belongs to the Asian Cricket Council.

Cricket Hong Kong and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) are delighted to announce Hong Kong as the host for the upcoming Asian Cricket Council Women’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup to be played at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground from the 10th to 21st June 2023.

The ACC Emerging Teams event will see the National ‘A’ teams from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and the National teams from Hong Kong, China, Malaysia and the UAE compete across two groups. The top 2 teams from each group will progress to semi-finals.

Asian Cricket Council President, Jay Shah, said: “Asian Cricket Council’s vision for cricket in the region includes creating equal opportunities for women to showcase their talent and take the sport to new heights. The Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 in Hong Kong is a great platform for young women cricketers to compete and grow, and we are committed to developing women’s cricket in Asia to ensure a bright future for the sport.”

Cricket Hong Kong Chairperson, Burji Shroff had this to say: “We are delighted and honoured to be selected by the Asian Cricket Council to host the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

It is an incredible event that will not only showcase one of the best teams in women’s cricket in Asia but will also provide a platform for the development of women’s cricket across the region. It will provide a great playing opportunity and exposure to our team who will take on India A, Pakistan A and Thailand A in group matches.

Hong Kong has a successful history in hosting international cricket events and we look forward to welcoming visiting teams to Hong Kong to experience this wonderful city and showcase their skill in what will be a great event.”

The Women’s Emerging Teams will be broadcast around the world and the broadcast is produced and distributed by IPG Group.

This event(s) is subvented by Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau (CSTB) (Arts and Sport Development Fund, ASDF), supported by Leisure and Cultural Services Department of The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.
