The 2022 Indoor Cricket World Cup will be broadcast across Australia with 43 games to be streamed live on Kayo Sports.

Eight nations will compete in the World Indoor Cricket Federation tournament to be held at Casey Stadium, Melbourne, on October 8-15.

Men’s and Women’s senior and U22 teams from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, England, India, Sri Lanka, UAE and Singapore will compete for the respective trophies.

Australia is hoping to continue its Indoor Cricket World Cup dominance with all four teams defending the titles they won in Dubai in 2017.

Nicole Martin and Lyle Teske will captain the Australian Women’s and Men’s senior teams while Katrina Dixon and Jonathan D’Rozario will lead the U22 Women’s and Men’s teams.

The opening day of the tournament will feature a Trans-Tasman triple-header between the Australian and New Zealand Women, U22 Women and Men’s teams.

The 2022 World Cup marks the return of international indoor cricket after the 2020 World Cup was postponed due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

The tournament is hosted by Cricket Australia with the support of the Victorian Government as well as the venue host, the City of Casey.

Victorian Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos said:

“We’re proud to be supporting the 2022 Indoor Cricket World Cup which will be streamed live from Casey Stadium, showcasing Victoria as the nation’s sporting capital to audiences across the nation.”

“More sporting events means a win for sport fans and for local jobs – drawing visitors and delivering more benefits to businesses across accommodation, hospitality, tourism and retail.”

City of Casey Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff PSM said:

“Following the success of the Indoor Cricket National Championships at Casey Stadium in June and July 2022 and the Indoor Cricket Australian Masters Championship in August, the City of Casey is honoured to be hosting the prestigious Indoor Cricket World Cup in October,” Ms Duff said.

“The eight-day event is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect the indoor cricket community from across the world. We look forward to welcoming the competing countries to our state-of-the-art indoor cricket facility at Casey Stadium.

“I encourage all sports lovers, in particular the cricketing community, to come along and watch some world-class indoor cricket.”

Australian Men’s indoor cricket coach, Brenton Brien, said:

“We are so excited to be back playing at international level, especially a World Cup at home in Australia. The broadcast partnership with Kayo adds to this excitement and I am thankful to Kayo for helping us bring our great game to a broader audience.

“We have played the past two national tournaments at Casey Stadium which is a first-class facility for players and spectators. We would like to thank the Victorian Government and the City of Casey for their support of Indoor Cricket and for hosting the World Cup.”
