Cricket Australia (CA) has announced the Match Referee Panel and State and Territory Umpire Panels (STUP) for the 2023/24 season.

In total, 35 umpires have been selected by State and Territory Associations to join their respective Umpire Panels this season. The State and Territory Umpire Panels will be complemented by the seven CA Supplementary Umpire Panel members across all formats.

Head of Cricket Operations and Scheduling, Peter Roach said:

“The retention of much of the Match Referee Panel was an endorsement of their outstanding contribution to the successful summer of cricket last season.

“We are sad to be losing Steve Bernard from our Match Referee Panel. Steve has made the difficult decision to retire as a contracted member of the panel, but we are pleased that he will continue as a relief match referee. Steve has made an excellent contribution to the panel in his 10 years of service, and many more in other roles in cricket, and we thank him for all he has done for the sport.

“We are very confident that the vast experience of the eight panel members will ensure our competitions have the best possible oversight.

“The season is underway, and we look forward to another exciting and full summer of cricket.”

CA has also made changes to the ICC Regional Match Referee representatives with the appointment of David Gilbert and Kent Hannam.

“We thank Steve Bernard and Bob Stratford for their service as ICC Regional Match Referees representing CA with high levels of integrity, trust, and respect. We congratulate David and Kent who we are sure will continue the fine standing of CA match referees at the ICC level,” Roach said.

CA congratulates all match officials on their respective appointments.
