Cricket Australia congratulates the nine individual and team winners of the 2023-24 State Cricket Awards following a memorable domestic season.

Sam Nogajski has received the Cricket Australia Umpire Award after an exceptional season at both international and domestic level.

Nogajski umpired in the home men’s internationals being appointed for on-field duties during the West Indies Dettol ODI and T20I Series and performed at a high standard throughout each series.

His strong performances across domestic formats earned him on-field appointments to all three men’s competition finals (KFC BBL, Marsh One-Day Cup and Marsh Sheffield Shield).

In addition to his on field performances, Nogajski leads by example and offers a high degree of support to his lesser-experienced peers and the broader umpiring community.

Ashleigh Gardner has won a fourth Lord’s Taverners Indigenous Cricketer of the Year award following her remarkable performances over the past 12 months.

A member of both the ICC ODI and T20I Teams of the Year, Gardner won her second Belinda Clark Award in January.

Her remarkable 12 wicket haul against England in the Women’s Ashes Test at Trent Bridge, including match-winning figures of 8-66 in the second innings, was one of the highlights of the cricket year.

This is Gardner’s fourth Lord’s Taverners Indigenous Cricketer of the Year Award having previously won this award in the 2014-15, 2019-20 and 2022-23 seasons.

The ACT Meteors won the Women’s Benaud Spirit of Cricket Award finishing with 101 points at the end of the WNCL season, two points ahead of Queensland.

Tasmania took out this year’s Men’s Benaud Spirit of Cricket Award, with a combined 284 points across the Marsh Sheffield Shield and Marsh One-Day Cup competitions, two points ahead of Western Australia. In the Spirit of Cricket Awards, teams are awarded points across three categories at the end of each match with Respect for Opponents, Respect for Umpires and Respect for the Game all considered.

Nick Hockley, Cricket Australia CEO said:

“The 2023-24 domestic season has been a great success and we congratulate all award winners on their outstanding performances.

“In addition to the award winners, CA extends its congratulations to Tasmania and Western Australia for their domestic triumphs this season.

“Tasmania became just the second state to achieve a WNCL three-peat, while Western Australia’s remarkable domestic success continued in both the Marsh One-Day Cup and Marsh Sheffield Shield.

“It is timely to say a big thank you to all players, coaches, support staff, match officials and administration staff who all came together to ensure that we had strong, competitive and vibrant domestic competitions – competitions that continue to be fundamental to Australia producing strong national teams.

“We also extend our thanks to all our partners including Marsh, Foxtel and Kayo Sports for their ongoing support of domestic cricket.

“In addition to these awards, CA would like to again congratulate the previously announced 2023-24 award winners.”
